Feeding Pets
Feeding time, portion size, snacks
Most experts recommend feeding your dog or cat twice a day — once in the morning and once in the evening — though puppies and kittens under five months of age should be fed three to four times a day, or as directed by your veterinarian.
Giving affection to your pet is one of the joys of pet ownership, but giving them treats too often isn’t always in their interests and can overload them with extra calories they don’t need. Food rewards for good behavior are fine, but you should be mindful of how many treats you are giving as they can quickly add up. To reduce your dog’s treat intake, try phasing out food with other reward options like petting, games, going outside, doggy play and food puzzles.
